Pediatric Interventional Radiology 1 serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of practicing IR in pediatric patients. This course will teach basic principles and special considerations when managing and treating pediatric patients and serve as a foundation for further learning.

Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate understanding of the key features of pediatric patient evaluation, resuscitation, and pharmacology
- Learn the role of sedation and anesthesia in pediatric patients
- Be familiar with the process of obtaining informed consent and be able to discuss procedural risks with parents and patients
- Realize the special considerations for arterial vascular access in pediatric patients
- Identify appropriately sized tools and techniques for performance of vascular, biopsy, and drainage procedures in pediatric patients
- Recognize the importance of radiation reduction and protection techniques in pediatric IR
