IR Coding Academy

Overview:

IR Coding Academy is a comprehensive education program designed to enhance confidence and accuracy in interventional radiology coding. Through a structured series of expert-led webinars, participants build a solid foundation in Evaluation & Management services, documentation requirements, and correct code selection across both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
The academy provides in-depth instruction on arterial and venous interventions, neurointerventional procedures, dialysis access, pain management, musculoskeletal interventions, and a broad spectrum of general IR services. Specialized modules cover renal, genitourinary, biliary, interventional oncology, and portal-system procedures, emphasizing key concepts such as vascular anatomy, catheter selection, procedural hierarchy, bundling rules, and sequencing of services.
Designed for interventional radiologists, practice administrators, and billing and coding professionals, IR Coding Academy focuses on real-world applications. Learners gain practical insights into coding principles that drive accurate clinical documentation, navigate complex procedural scenarios, differentiate bundled from separately reportable services, and ensure compliant coding in today’s evolving interventional radiology landscape.

Learning Objectives

  1. Apply core IR coding principles to accurately support documentation and coding for diagnostic and interventional procedures, including appropriate use of E/M services, time-based coding, and medical decision-making.
  2. Differentiate bundled versus separately reportable services across arterial, venous, neurointerventional, oncology, dialysis, and general IR procedures to support compliant coding and reduce reimbursement risk.
  3. Recognize how procedural hierarchy, vascular anatomy, and catheter selection impact code assignment, sequencing, and documentation requirements in complex interventional radiology cases.
